It’s Still Summer

September 12, 2014

We officially have 10 days left of summer, but if you live in the American Southwest then you know that means two more months. Here in Southern California it’s suns out, guns out until late November. Tank tops, cut-off shorts, Ray-Bans and Vans until the fall fashion caravan hits town. Here are some things I’ve been rocking all summer.

Above: Zara swim trunks (Zara); Girls go nuts for these European-style short swim trunks and I receive endless compliments on them. Want to play a game? Try walking around Coachella wearing these and take a shot every time a girl compliments you.

Alife Public Amagansetts (pickyourshoes.com); Although they seem like an overpriced pair of Vans at first glance, there is more than meets the eye. You’re paying extra for the attention to detail, quality, and originality which other canvas shoes won’t give you. The cork insoles and unique texture on these shoes make them stand out from the pack. It’s sort of like the difference between a CZ and a Browning Hi-Power (did I offend anyone?).

Above: Hawkings McGill Shorts (Urban Outfitters); Herman Melville would approve.

Nixon Time Teller watch (Nordstroms); This is the most inexpensive watch Nixon sells, but it’s subtle and effective. Comes in a variety of colors but I personally prefer the matte black.

Above: Randolph Engineering Aviators (randolphusa.com): The original Don Draper sunglasses, these military-issue specs are a favorite of mine.

Sig Sauer M11-A1: The Swiss-designed, American made compact handgun star. This new version of the M11 sports Siglite night sites, phosphate-coated internals, a milled stainless steel slide, and the incredible SRT trigger. Love at first squeeze.

Brixton woven cacti print shirt: Being a desert lover I was naturally drawn towards this shirt. Plus I feel like I’m in a Hunter S. Thompson novel.
